4x4 Route
Do not enter this road if your vehicle doesn't have decent ground clearance and some offroading capability (diff lock or low range at least). This is an unofficial road with no destination to mention. Quite rocky.

Fishing area
The actual location of this area depends on the level of the dam but this is the only place you are allowed to fish according to Rolfontein Nature Reserve management. Absolutely NO OPEN FIRES.

You may also spot some precious animals in this area. This part of the dam is also a no-go zone for boats so you will have undisturbed fishing and birdlife with literally thousands of birds enjoying the dam here.

Please be responsible when entering this part of Rolfontein.

Main viewing point
Certainly the best viewpoint of Rolfontein Nature Reserve. View Grootwater and all its surroundings in a nicely build double storey view point. Nice shade, bring a picnic basket and spend some time here enjoying Vanderkloof Dam at its best!!

    Goeie middag!

  2. Marna

Waar is Rolfontein Natuurreservaat se ingang? As mens in die reservaat is, kom mens dan ook by die dam se water uit? Wat is hulle eposadres?

    1. Albert vd Westhuizen

  3. Marna

Baie dankie Albert!

Is Rolfontein nou oop??

      1. Bernard

        Dankie, ek waardeer die terugvoer.

  6. riekie.bosch@momentum.co.gg

    Is die reservaat al oop?

  7. Ryno Verster

Goeie more.

  8. Paula Tiller

Is Rolfontein open? How do we get in contact. The phone doesn’t get answered.

    1. Vanderkloofdam.co.za

      Hi Paula,

Yes Rolfontein is open again. Their number is 053 664 0900 during office hours. Otherwise the gate is open from 8am till 4pm daily.

  9. Paula Tiller

Thank you for the information. We went and we had a fabulous time although you did need to have a keen eye to spot the entrance as there was no sign on the roadside! We’d like to write a glowing trip advisor review but the reserve is not yet listed on TripAdvisor. We were blown away by the view from lookout point 2. Visiting the reserve was a very special experience for us and will remain with us always. We had excellent sightings of many species and thoroughly enjoyed our morning there.

    1. Vanderkloofdam.co.za

      Sy selnommer is 0799923160

  12. Lucy

    Baie dankie!

Good day, I would like to enquire about the Chalets in Rolfontein Bay as advertised above. I phoned today to learn that they are not yet open. Any idea when they will be open again? If not can you suggest any self catering closest to the banks for about 20 people in September 2015?

  14. J Cronje

There are no camping and chaleys at Rolfontein it look if affermitive builders was building there because the wind sit a stop to it.

  15. Fanie

  16. Are the chLets open? Looking to visit in November 2015

    1. Vanderkloofdam.co.za

      Hi Penny

Im afraid not. I would recommend you look at one of the other lodges in Vanderkloof under the Accommodation section

  17. Anton

Wil graag kom kamp (Tent) en canoe by Vander klood dam. Waar’s die beste plek?
